

Chen continued to set records by winning the grand prize in both the International Recording Competition in the Collegiate Division when she was only in high school, and the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition.

She set the record by winning first prize in the Junior Division and subsequently the Senior Division of the Music Teachers National Association’s (MTNA) 50-state National Piano Competition. While in New York, her teachers have been Byron Janis and Yin Cheng Zong.Īt the age of 12, she was the first prize winner of the MTAC Concerto Competition.

While at the Juilliard School, she was twice the winner of the Gina Bachauer Scholarship Competition, where she was awarded a full tuition and stipend in 19. She received her Bachelor and Master of Music from The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Martin Canin. Szekely is also in great demand as a sideman and session player in Los Angeles, having appeared in hundreds of commercials, television shows and movie scores. Szekely founded the Jacob Szekely Trio and released their debut EP, which was hailed by critics and artists from Chick Corea to Rush Bassist Geddy Lee as a “Quantum Leap Forward” in pushing the boundaries of the instrument. He was accepted to study classical cello performance at Interlochen Arts Academy before attending The Cleveland Institute of Music for his Bachelor’s Degree with Richard Aaron and the University of Southern California for graduate studies. Szekely released his first commercial album and was sharing the stage with luminaries including Joan Baez and Don McClean. University of Utah Professor and Steinway Artist, Lenora Ford Brown, has won international piano competitions and performed at Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall and throughout Asia.

I am well-versed in K-8 standards and assessment tools and have ample experience developing, implementing, and tracking educational goals. At the middle school level, I taught science, reading, and art. While teaching elementary grades, I taught all subject areas. I also worked as a private teacher for a family with a kindergarten and 2nd grade student during the '20-'21 school year. I've taught 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th, and 8th as a general education teacher.
